Flower Essences and the Cosmos

Behind each obstacle is a space of seemingly calm water. In reality, the water is flowing against the current in this space. Since there are two different directions of flow happening, the line at which they meet is a line of turbulence. In river parlance, this line is called the eddyline and the calmer space behind the boulder is called an eddy.

If you were travelling in a kayak, you may want to cross the eddyline into an eddy as it provides a place to rest out of the current. But it is not where you want to stay – you want to travel with the flow of the river to your destination downstream. Crossing the eddyline can be a little scary and it requires skill, strength and positioning yourself at the right angle so that the turbulence does not flip your boat.

If we were to use this as an analogy for our lives, we generally want to be moving forward with the current. As life progresses, we experience moments of emotional or physical turbulence – trauma, stress, grief, loss, and more – and when that happens, we often seek the refuge of the eddy, that calm space outside of the current. While it feels safe here, if we remain in this space for too long, we can begin to feel stuck, as if life is flowing on around us, without us. So why do we stay? Often it is the fear of having to cross that eddyline again.

This is where flower essences come in. They are the means to help soften and neutralize that eddyline. They calm our inner turbulence and relax our nervous system so that we can cross back into the flow of life once more.

There exist three types of energy in the universe: generating, neutral and destructive. Our goal is to become the kayak – the vessel of neutral energy - that travels in the flow of these two other forces. Ideally, we spend more time in the flow of the river, in the stream of regenerating energy, and not in the backward flow of destructive energy.

If we were to take this analogy to the cosmos, the spinning of our universe is like one giant rotating river, with each planetary body acting as a boulder that creates turbulence in the flow of cosmic energy. When these planetary bodies align with each other, we call them transits, but in essence, they are simply heavenly lines of turbulence that we feel energetically in our nervous system. They block the flow of that regenerating energy we want to have access to, and whether we recognize it consciously or not, this turbulence impacts our lives in a very real way.

Each flower essence is the higher vibrational octave of an astrological transit, and when we ingest flower essences, that cosmic energetic turbulence is neutralized. It is like throwing two stones into a pond where they create outward ripples. Where their respective ripples meet, they cancel each other out and it is in this way that flower essences neutralize the ripples we feel from the cosmos.

If our nervous system becomes overwhelmed, we may begin to retreat from life and hide behind the boulder that feels like safe, calm water. However, when we do this, we no longer have access to the regenerating energy that supports our body’s innate ability to heal. Flower essences create the conditions that allow you to access the flow of healing energy that surrounds you and that is your birth right. But you must be willing to cross that eddyline to gain it.

Flower essences support that process and, in this way, enhance our physical and emotional wellbeing.
